Rick and Kelley Arnold ride together in the 2017 Veterans’ Day Parade in Phoenix, AZ

Rick Arnold, field engineer for the Salt River Segment, was selected as one of the Grand Marshals of the Veterans Day Parade held in Phoenix on November 11, 2017.

Rick served 35 years in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 before retiring in 2015. He spent most of his career flying Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook helicopters and was deployed multiple times, including one tour in Somalia, one in Iraq and four deployments to Afghanistan.

In 2011, Rick was awarded the Order of Daedalians U.S. Army Exceptional Pilot award for a rescue mission to bring home a fallen hero and members of his unit. Other commendations presented to Rick include the Legion of Merit; five Bronze Stars; five Air Medals; an Air Medal with Valor; two Meritorious Service Medals; two Air Force Commendations; and Order of St. Michael Bronze and Silver Army Aviation awards.
